Is there a reason people are behaving as though Pete’s dead and gone? I understand the idea of Fall Out Boy breaking up, or even just continuing on without the solid Patrick-Pete-Joe-Andy package, is devastating. But really, life happens.
Pete does not deserve all the blame and rage that’s being thrown at him, surely. Whatever this thing is the band is going through, it’s not all on him. They’re equals. They’re brothers.
On the other hand, he doesn’t need a parade of people honoring his very existence. He is not Fall Out Boy. Fall Out Boy is a band, four unbelievably talented and dedicated dudes. He just happens to be one of them. Pictures and memories and videos are being posted that are Pete-centric. Why? Because he confirmed what most of us already suspected?
I am, of course, a huge fan of FOB, and of Pete as a lyricist. However, while I see no reason to paint him as the villain, I see portraying him as the victim unnecessary as well. I think it’s great to see fans stand up for him against the crazed, angry people that are being demeaning about the entire situation. I just don’t think all devotional photos and praises are needed.
There’s way too much hype surrounding a break-up that may not even be a break-up at all. This could just be Pete getting into a different head space. Maybe they’ll all find their balance again and get back on the same page once more as Andy said.
On that note, I will put an end to this silly rant that no one will read.. Now, go watch Lost. That is what everyone’s doing tonight, isn’t it?
